THE WORLD SOUNDTRACK AWARDS
I’m on my way home after an incredible few days attending the World Soundtrack Awards. There’s so much to reflect upon and be grateful for. The soundtrack to Slay The Princess composed by Brandon Boone, featuring vocals and improvisations from myself, won the Game Music Award! More about that later in a separate post.
What really struck me throughout was the authenticity and openness on display - whether chatting at the bar or hearing people in conversation about their work.
Creating music requires so much honesty - I think the constant confrontation of the self really breaks down barriers, and you mustn’t question yourself too much or the job doesn’t get done. I always feel most aligned when I’m in that flow of singing or creating in the studio, it’s a beautiful and peaceful thing.
Congratulations to all the nominees and award winners, and a huge ‘thank you’ to the attendees and everyone involved with the event - so many good people with talent and passion out there, it was delightful getting to know everyone. Now to catch up on sleep!
